Took the FR-S to PIR for one last trackday to finish off the 2014 season, and ended up having some fantastic battles with 5 other 86 owners who also brought their cars out. I honestly cannot think of another late model car that sees more average track time than the toybaru as I've yet to attend a track/autocross event without at least 2 others present. Keep that in mind if you happen to be shopping for a used one...

You know, the only reason I would buy the BRZ instead of the FRS would be for World Rally Blue. But if Aquamarine Blue looks like that...well WR blue is still better but damn it's not a bad compromise. Why couldn't Toyota just have a shiny blue mica paint available for the FRS!?

I think Subaru got the WR Blue because Scion got Hot Lava.
But I like Ultramarine, it's dark enough to make the lines look pretty aggressive without the over the top feel of the lighter colors, but doesn't totally hide them like black does. Plus all my vehicles are dark blue in some form, so it was an easy choice for me :)

I didn't notice your wheels earlier but are those Kosei K1 TS? If so, nice choice!

Nope, Enkei RPF1 because they lose about 5lb per corner over stock!

Nice! Those look to be 17x8? What other goodies are you running? I agree with your observation above, there are ALWAYS other frs/brz twins at the track. Living in SoCal probably has a lot to do with it, but still, it's good to see other owners using the car as it was intended. I've got a wrb brz myself and would go to the track every week if my wallet would allow it!

I've never seen an NC at the track around me, I was remarking that it's impressive how many toybarus seeing heavy track usage considering how new it is. We got nothing on NA/NB numbers, but we are slowly claiming your peers. You would be surprised how many FR-S owners are former miata owners.

And then there are some that buy one and then sell it back because it lacks the character of a Miata. lol

You're right I know quite a few people who sold their NCs because it lacked the character of a miata :)
But seriously, I love the miata and am always on the hunt for a nice beat to hell NA (or RX7) to turn into a dedicated hoon weapon.

Yea i drove an FRS and it did nothing for me. Not to mention it has the worst factory clutch i have ever driven in my life

I completely agree on the clutch (and transmission). There is this stupid helper spring on the clutch that makes it feel artificially light and removes ALL sensation from the pedal. Once the spring is removed clutch feel improved drastically. I also had to throw on some bushings and a short shifter to make the transmission as compelling as my old RX8.
I will say, having driven both (NC and FR-S) in anger before purchasing, the FRS was a more satisfying drive to me. It was damn close, and if I lived outside of the rain capitol of the US I might have gone with the miata.

Yea and the NC is the heaviest and softest Miata lol. Man i had an 05 RX8 for a weekend and it was amazing. Bone stock but it was some of the most fun i had ever had.

Great car, and I was sad to see it go. But the Renesis is a nice steamy pile of compromise engineering.

Yea gotta love and hate those rotories. The one i drove the owner sold with 100k on it and it was still purring fine with good compression
